At Kokorobi, we embrace this philosophy of beauty with depth — not just in how we serve matcha, but in how we create space for calm, for connection, and for meaningful ritual. From the careful preparation of each drink to the stillness it invites, Kokorobi is an expression of intentional living. It’s where heart, tradition, and beauty meet — served in a cup, and felt in a moment of pause.

It started in the small cafés of Marikina, where I searched for a matcha experience that felt true: one with depth, balance, and soul. While many drinks carried the color of matcha, they lacked the Japanese spirit behind it. That search led me on a journey—one that eventually led me to its origin – Kyoto, Japan.

While traveling through Japan, I visited traditional kissaten and teahouses tucked into peaceful neighborhoods. In those spaces, I experienced something I hadn’t before: the intentional way tea was prepared, the quiet reverence in each motion, and the unspoken mindfulness shared between guest and host. There was stillness, respect, and a deep-rooted sense of tradition that resonated with me.

More than just the flavor of matcha, I was drawn to its cultural depth—how it carried centuries of Japanese ritual and philosophy in each bowl. I felt a strong desire to bring that same essence into my own community—not just as a beverage, but as an experience, a reminder to slow down, and a way to connect more intentionally.

In Uji and Wazuka, I met tea farmers who helped me understand what real matcha truly is. I’ve experienced tasting different cultivars and how each grade differs from one another. I have attended workshops where I learned how a tea leaf is transformed into fine ground matcha. They brought me to tea factories where I saw each process of the whole transformation. Those experiences, combined with the heartfelt moments I spent in Japanese cafés, became the foundation for what Kokorobi is today.

Kokorobi is deeply personal to me. It’s not just a business—it’s a way to share my love for Japanese culture and my passion for slowing down in a fast-moving world. Behind the trend of matcha is a story that deserves to be told—a story you can feel when you sip slowly and with intention.

We serve 100% JAS Certified Organic, first-harvest matcha from Uji, Kyoto, prepared with care and offered with heart. From our thoughtfully crafted drinks to the way we hold space for community, Kokorobi is a quiet celebration of culture, connection, and presence.
